Software I use and recommend
Below you will find all the software I use to perform my maintenance and work on your PC. I use free and or Open Source software to accomplish virus scanning, spyware and malware removal. I offer solutions for installing and configuring a new operating system if for example you have an older computer and cannot upgrade to the newest version of Windows you can use a Linux operating system to get more life out of your system. Best of all once I am finished I will show you how to use the software and because of it's free and/or open nature I can leave it on your system once I am done! Ubuntu Linux
Are you tired of viruses and spyware? What would you say if I were to tell you that it is possible to be virtually immune those pests? If you want to ditch windows or have an older computer and cannot afford to upgrade or you are tired of all the instability of Windows then I would recommend that you give Ubuntu a try. Ubuntu is a Linux Distribution. What this means is that it is a complete operating system that can completely replace Microsoft Windows on your machine. it comes complete with an office suite, a web browser, email client, graphic editors and MUCH MORE. The great thing about Ubuntu is that it is totally free! you don't need to spend one penny to purchase or upgrade the OS EVER! You can download the CD image from their website, burn it to a disk and reboot your pc to try it! It won't change anything on your hard drive unless you select install! so that means you can play around with it and then take the cd out and reboot right back into windows no problem! You can also have Ubuntu and Windows coexist peacefully on the same hard drive and select which one to start when you boot your system! Ubuntu is an african word that means "Humanity to others" and the community support is second to none. In fact, I built and coded this website right from my Ubuntu machine! Antivirus
How many of you have an up to date antivirus program? how many of you have let the subscription slide and are now lacking this vital protection? Antivirus software protects your computer from various attacks, such as viruses, worms and trojan horses. This should be your first line of defense in securing your computer from malicious activity. I recommend and use Avira Antivirus, they have a completely free version with free updates which means no subscription fees and No hassle. Also it takes up fewer resources than the others. Antispyware
Our next category is Antispyware. This software works with your antivirus solution to keep your computer spyware free. Spyware may not be considered a virus and as such doesn't get captured by your antivirus. Spyware however, collects your surfing habits by looking at your stored internet surfing history and takes this information and sends it to the makers of the software to serve you targeted ads. this is not only annoying but a breach of privacy. There are other kinds of spyware out there that can steal passwords and other information such as credit card numbers and send that info back as well. I have two picks for antispyware software. The first is Malwarebytes Anti-malware. The company has a free version as well as a paid version. The free version has some of the features removed such as real-time scanning which means that you will need to manually scan your computer from time to time to check for the presence of Mal-Ware. However, this software product is highly recommended around the web and if you want to have the convenience of real-time scans as well as other features they have other versions available.
